First-timers often outscore repeaters because they have no bad habits to unlearn and approach the exam fresh. But you need a plan.
Goal: Know the syllabus + cover 50% of every section Quant: Arithmetic basics (percentage, ratio, profit-loss) Reasoning: Start with easy topics (analogy, series, coding) English: Daily vocabulary (10 words) + basic grammar GK: Start reading current affairs daily Mocks: 1 every 2 weeks (don't fear low scores)

1. Collecting too many books. Pick one per section, finish it. 2. Skipping mocks. Take your first mock in Month 1, even if you score 80. 3. Neglecting GK. It's 25% of marks — start from Day 1. 4. Over-studying one section. The 4 sections are equally weighted — balance. 5. No revision. You'll forget 70% of what you learn without revision.

8 months of consistent 6-hour study beats 2 months of 12-hour panic Accuracy volume. A 70%-accurate 50 attempts beats a 50%-accurate 80 attempts Don't compare with toppers online — they hide their struggle
If after 3 mocks your score plateaus below 100 despite genuine effort, reassess: Is your study method active (problems) or passive (reading)? Are you analysing mocks or just taking them? Are you over-confident on weak sections?
Most first-timers who follow this plan score 150+ in Tier-1. Stick with it.
